01 / The brief

What needed to be created.

Create a contemporary luxury environment with a Latin American point of view without relying on literal cultural symbols. The installation had to communicate material richness through atmosphere, texture and silhouette.

02 / The concept

The idea that guided every decision.

Soft Monument turns cloth into landscape. Draped surfaces behave like dunes and architectural curtains, creating an environment that feels intimate, ceremonial and grounded in material craft.

03 / Visual direction

How the idea became image.

Sand, camel, tobacco, olive and deep cocoa form a low-contrast palette. Matte textiles, gathered folds and organic textures create depth, while two central mannequins provide a quiet focal point.

Process

How the project was built.

01

Define the cultural lens

Research focused on desert landscapes, artisanal processes and draped architecture. The aim was to capture a sensibility rather than reproduce a recognizable motif.

02

Translate landscape into space

Curves, folds and suspended fabric were used to transform environmental references into a physical language suitable for a luxury installation.

03

Test palette and texture

Material studies compared warm neutrals, rough and smooth surfaces, opacity and movement. The chosen combination builds richness without visual noise.

04

Compose the focal scene

The mannequins remain central while the fabric creates depth around them. The final edit balances symmetry with irregular, organic movement.

Final deliverables

What the project produced.

  1. Research and concept statement
  2. Material and color direction
  3. Installation sketches
  4. Final visual merchandising proposal
Reflection

The project succeeds when the environment feels culturally specific through material intelligence rather than decoration. The next development would include a floor plan, lighting test and fabrication budget.
